Work Week Summary's from July 24 - August 10

July 24th to the 26th, Kee and I were sampling sites around the Pinedale field office. It was our first time sampling in the area due to the high flows that finally went down. Our first site was on a small piece of BLM land surrounded by private property. I did not realize that we were going to run into problems getting to the site so I did not get any contact information to speak to the owner. Kee was able to get a number from the PFO allowing us to call the owner. Thankfully she answered right away and said that it was completely fine for us to cross their property. The site was on Watson Draw North Beaver Creek just below a culvert within a small wetland. So we were only able to sample have of the transects and it was not easy trying to find bankfull. I had such high anxiety that day from not contacting the land owner and bankfull that I was glad when we finally finished. My First Attempt at Hunting

This hunt season started the first of September with our any Antelope tags over by Elk Mountain between Saratoga, WY and Laramie, WY on hunt unit 50. Earlier in the spring, Mike and I put in to draw tags for hunting. I was fortunate to draw two out of the three that I had put in for: any Antelope area 50 Muzzle-loader only and cow/calf Elk area 31 tag. Mike draw all four that he put in for which was any Antelope area 50 Muzzle-loader only, doe/fawn Antelope area 59 and 90 (I think), and any Elk area 30. Mike's father drove up from New Mexico the day before the opener to help us hunt and to help Mike out with his incredible Elk tag. Which is one of the highest priced tag in this part of the state because of the size of bull Elk that are here. We all got up at 4 am on September 1st to drive over to Elk Mountain. 2016 Reflection

I really don't know where the year went because it all happened so fast. January 2016, my best friend flow down from Montana to spend New Years with me in Oklahoma where I was living earlier this year with Goose. Those first few days of the year lead me to meeting people who I now call my close friends. I was working for Cummins in the parts department where I was very fortunate to be because Goose helped me get the job there. My sister is a field service writer there and put in a good word otherwise I would have never received the job because of my work background. Having all fish experience along with being a science educator does not really get you far within the mechanic world. I worked there until the end of April when I moved back to Wyoming to work for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department as a Fisheries and CWD Technician. My time in Oklahoma was perfect and the friends that I made while I was there I still hold very close to my heart and think about them everyday. I a...
