Father's Day Weekend

Picture from Evanston TAKF Day 2015
Started off my Saturday with a much needed workout early in the morning before getting ready to be at the small pond close to the ball fields and golf course here in Rock Springs to volunteer for Take-A-Kid-Fishing Day. The first time that I worked it was when I started working with Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Our task was to gut and put all the fish the kids were catching on ice so they could take them home later. I think it took me about two weeks to get the blood and stomach material out from under my finger nails. Haha It was great watching the kids come up to you with them because some of them don't want to be even touching them. Most of those individuals were the boys and the girls were all over it. This year I was helping with our Seedskadee Trout Unlimited Chapter making sure that the word got out on social media and cooking up the hotdogs for everyone.
Every year our chapter, Game and Fish, and Cowboy Bass put this on over Father's Day weekend a little after the pond has been restocked. The weather did not help us out this weekend as it was blowing like crazy but we did have about 30 kids and everyone had a great time. Mike and I ended up leaving right after I finished cooking because we needed to go grocery shopping and had a BBQ to attend that evening.

We went over to one of Mike's co-workers house to have a BBQ and meet his girlfriend who had just moved into town to live with him. This friend is a huge saltwater fly fisherman so it is fun to talk to him about all of the saltwater fish he has caught like Roosterfish!
The next day we went fishing with them to the ponds in Green River along the walking path to see if we could catch some Carp on our fly rods. The water was still to murky to see through so we could not find any and the water was so high that you could not even fish in the river it was moving so fast. Since we could not catch anything there, we decided to drive down to Lost Dog to Flaming Gorge Reservoir and try out luck there. Mike was able to see a couple but they ended up getting spooked. It is pretty hard to fish for Carp after they sense you because they release a pheromone warning nothing to go around that area. Even though we did not catch anything it was really nice to get out and cast again because I have not fished for like two months.
That Sunday evening, Mike had invited over people from work to have a BBQ because one of them has never eaten game meat. It turned into a smorgasbord of different types of meats (deer, antelope, beef, lamb, lake trout) and vegetables (kale chips, grilled zucchini/bell peppers/asparagus/poblano peppers/corn on the cob). Everything turned out amazing and thanks to my man for being grill master. We finally made it to bed around 11 pm and I had to be ready for working in Kemmerer all week.
Shout out to all the father's out there. Happy Father's Day to my Dad, Mr. Lee St.Clair! Through all the thick and thins of me and my sister's lives he still is there wanting to know how we are doing. He truly cares. Love you very much.
